Hayley J. Lam, PhD is a Senior Science Officer in Portfolio Development and Review at the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), California’s stem cell agency.  While at CIRM, Hayley has led and executed multiple discovery and translational program reviews with a current annual budget of $40M and collaborated in executing monthly clinical program reviews with an annual budget of $130M.  In addition to guiding applicants through the review and funding process, Hayley engages a large network of expert scientific reviewers, patient advocates, and board members in the review process.  Prior to joining CIRM in 2017, Hayley was a lecturer in the Department of Bioengineering at UC Berkeley for seven years.

Located in Oakland, CA, CIRM manages the $3 billion dollars the voters of California set aside for the funding of stem cell and regenerative medicine research at non-profit institutions and companies throughout California.  Our goal is to fund the best stem cell research happening in California to develop treatments for patients with unmet needs.  CIRM currently has approximately 300 active stem cell programs in our portfolio, spanning the development pathway from early discovery to late stage clinical projects, as well as education and infrastructure programs.
